Purchasing Agent (Not to exceed $62,000)
Lewis County Health System is seeking a Purchasing Agent to fulfill a full-time role in our Materials Management department.
Key responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Enter stock and non-stock supply orders for the Health System
Correspond with vendors, contractors and employed personnel
Advise Management of supply chain concerns
Maintain purchasing records
Process Capital purchases
Monitor and evaluate inventory levels, lead inventory control
Ensure Health System is fully utilizing benefits of current GPO
Recommend and research new vendors
Assist Management in evaluation of new products
Review, evaluate and report on Open/Pending orders
Successfully navigate Materials Management module within the Meditech system
Train to receive freight and restocking departments
The Purchasing Agent will report directly to the Controller. Selected candidate must have excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Be self-motivated with the ability to multi-task and work well within the team. Flexibility and willingness to undertake new responsibilities as assigned is required.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Thorough knowledge of market trade conditions, business methods, and current purchasing practices and procedures; thorough knowledge of current practices governing the preparation of purchase specifications; thorough knowledge of modern principles and practices of governmental purchasing using state contracts, catalogs, price lists, and literature; ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with department heads and others; ability to understand and follow oral and written directions; ability to plan and supervise the work of others; ability to operate a computer with purchased software; computer literacy.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either:
A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in either accounting, business, or public administration, economics, nursing, or related field and one year of purchasing experience including the placement of stock and non-stock commodities; or
B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two year college with an associate’s degree in either accounting, business, public administration, economics, nursing, or related field and three years of experience as outlined in (A) above; or
C) Graduation from high school and five years of experience as outlined in (A) above.
