MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTIONIST

Full-time Medical Transcriptionist position available in the Health Information Management Department. The qualified candidate must have good knowledge of medical terminology; good knowledge of office practices and procedures; good knowledge of English grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary; ability to type accurately from dictation at a minimum of 45 words per minute; ability to utilize digital and pedal controls to maintain quality and speed of dictation; ability to understand and carry out moderately complex oral and written instructions; and the ability to audibly recognize and spell medical terminology. Provisional appointment until Civil Service test is taken. Minimal qualifications: Completion of a comprehensive medical transcription course or one year of transcription experience in a medical doctor’s office, hospital, or skilled nursing facility which shall have included the transcription and typing of a variety of medical documents. Clinical Coordinator/Informatics Nurse

Acts as primary clinical liaison between the Information Systems Department and clinical personnel, either hospital employees or associates, including physicians, nursing, and clinical department staff, and communicates needs and reports or improvement to appropriate information systems staff.  Responsibility including but not limited to planning, implementation, security, sustainability, access, and data quality.

Qualified individual is responsible for implementing and maintaining the Clinical Electronic Health Record (EHR) system in the hospital and physician practices.  This individual will play a key role in strategic planning and design of future health information systems applications as facility needs and regulatory requirements evolve.  The work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of IS.

Qualified candidate will assist in the development of training programs for the clinical users, will evaluate system functionality, participate in building the clinical system functions, testing system upgrades, creating training manuals, creating clinical templates, creating clinical reports, improving clinical workflow and providing on-going and post-implementation support.

Individual will possess or acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the facility software products with the goal of determining if clinical documentation goals are met, versus what system/application deficiencies may be encountered.  Assists staff in the efficient use of the current software.  Knowledge of clinical hospital and physician practice settings, Joint Commission initiatives, Meditech 6.0 EHR and LSS Practice Management System, (CQM) Clinical Quality measures, eRx, ARRA and Meaningful Use Stages, as well as basic analytical reporting, Patient Portal, IMO,  and Snomed.

The minimum qualifications are (1) A Bachelor’s degree in nursing with three years of nursing experience including one year of which involved experience in a position responsible for technology planning, implementation, training and support.  Knowledge of Meditech 6.0 EHR and LSS Practice Management Systems is a plus.  Lewis County General Hospital offers an attractive benefits package including medical/dental insurance, NYS Retirement and much more.  Salary is commensurate with experience.  Qualified applicants may forward resume to James A.
