Medical Transcriptionist

Full-time Medical Transcriptionist position available in the Health Information Management Department. The qualified candidate must have good knowledge of medical terminology; good knowledge of office practices and procedures; good knowledge of English grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary; ability to type accurately from dictation at a minimum of 45 words per minute; ability to utilize digital and pedal controls to maintain quality and speed of dictation; ability to understand and carry out moderately complex oral and written instructions; and the ability to audibly recognize and spell medical terminology. Provisional appointment until Civil Service test is taken. Minimal qualifications: Completion of a comprehensive medical transcription course or one year of transcription experience in a medical doctor’s office, hospital, or skilled nursing facility which shall have included the transcription and typing of a variety of medical documents.
