Thomas P. Birk, D.O., began his practice at the Beaver River Health Center, Beaver Falls, NY, in early November 2007. Dr. Birk received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Pennsylvania State University. Following graduation he joined the United States Army and in 1995 he attended the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine graduating with his doctorate in 1999. He performed his Internship and Residency at the DeWitt Army Community Hospital in Fort Belvoir, VA. He then went to Korea and from 2002 to 2005 he was the Officer-in-Charge and Family Physician at the Camp Hialeah Troop Medical Clinic. In 2005, Dr. Birk returned to the states and continued his career at Fort Drum, NY, as a Family Physician. Dr. Birk was honorably discharged from the Army in 2006 with the rank of Major. His practice includes a Full Family Practice scope of newborns, adolescents, adult, geriatric population, and a full scope of specialty medicines.

Mr. Engle has lived in Lowville for over 30 years. He serves as Adult Sunday School teacher and Deacon at the Denmark Baptist Church. He is a volunteer Critical Care EMT with Lewis County Search and Rescue. He and his family enjoy martial arts. Mr. Engle holds the rank of 4th degree Black Belt and is an instructor of Tae Kwon Do with Niblett's Karate Studio. He has published three articles in the International Martial Arts publication, The Tae Kwon Do Times.

Shirley Tuttle-Malone, D.O., Board Certified Family Practice
Dr. Tuttle-Malone is a local family doctor, born and raised in Lewis County and is a proponent of preventive medicine. She completed her medical degree at the Philadelpia School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her internship and residency at St. Elizabeth's College. Dr. Tuttle-Malone has served on several community service boards in the past and was also active on the LCGH Medical Executive Committee serving as president, vice-president and secretary/treasurer. Due to her diagnoses of ocular myasthenia gravis, she gave up full-time hospital privileges because of her difficulty with distance vision and the inability, at times, to drive. She now practices at Beaver River Family Health Center and the LCGH Residential Health Care Facility. Dr. Tuttle-Malone offers a comprehensive program of family medicine and is currently accepting new patients.

Dr. Atkinson began her medical education at St. Lawrence University, Canton, where she received a Bachelor Degree of Science – Biology in 1992. She went on to the SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse, NY to attain her Doctor of Medicine in 1996. Following her internship in Family Medicine she performed her residency in Rural Family Medicine at the Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton, North Carolina. Dr. Atkinson is a Diplomat - American Board of Family Medicine and a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
